These spacers keep all Simple Woodturning Tools properly aligned with the lathe centerline.
By adjusting the tool rest position and adding the appropriate spacers, you can quickly achieve the correct tool height without repeatedly loosening and repositioning the clamping collar, keeping your tools properly aligned with the lathe centerline for more consistent turning.
Here's how to use them:
- Set the tool rest height at the lathe center line using the 1/2 inch square shaft of any Simple Woodturning Tool. A drive center with a point in the spindle works well for this.
- What's Included: 7-pack (2 blue spacers, 2 red spacers and 3 yellow spacers).Â
- Select spacers that match the diameter of your tool rest post (either 5/8" or 1").

Here is a way to keep your spacers handy and prevent them from falling into the chips; a loop through all of them works well, and another loop over the tool rest locking bolt keeps them within easy reach.
