About this blank:
- This 11.5" x 1.5" wood blank offers a perfect canvas for crafting a stunning platter to present snacks or offer as a gift. Turn a pedestal base to form a cake stand.
- This platter blank is crafted with only the finest hand-picked, kilned hardwoods for superior results. Achieve the best results with sharp tools when working with dry woods & resin. We recommend Acrylic/Resin tools across the face when turning epoxy resin and wood, and wood tools on the edge and bottom. Check out our video to see what tools we used!
- This platter should be turned within 1 month of receipt to avoid any changes in the wood.
- With a routed design in the middle, the 3/4" deep slot can hold 6-12 oz of your epoxy resin-based mixture, colored to your preferred hue. This can be put into a pressure pot, although satisfactory results have been achieved without one.
- The Snowflake pattern will need about 12 oz of resin, while the Christmas Tree pattern will take 6oz of resin.
- Special Note: We do NOT recommend urethane resins. We only use and have tested epoxy resin (we use Total Boat tabletop epoxy, however there are others)
- The center has been pre-marked with a center point, providing an easy reference for tailstock centering when mounting the project. If desired on the snowflake design, you can first mount your project, remove the center point, and pour your resin. Be sure to support your project from tipping while it cures.
