Simple Scraper VI – Versatile Inside Wall and Bottom Finishing Tool (12" Shaft Length)
The Simple Scraper VI is designed for shaping inside walls and finishing bottoms of your projects—no matter how the piece is held. Now available with a longer shaft length, this scraper reaches deep inside hollow forms while giving you maximum control.
Key Benefits
-
Widest and most unique carbide scraper available – now in a longer version for improved reach.
-
Pairs with a 17" foam grip handle for a total length of 26.5", providing excellent leverage and stability.
-
Works with the Simple Hollowing System for extended reach compared to the Simple Scraper III.
-
Recommended to bundle with our Flat Scraper Tool Rest to reduce overhang and improve surface quality.
-
Suitable for projects of all sizes—from pens to bowls and hollow forms—because it shapes and finishes with a single tool.
-
Quickly removes tool marks and leaves smooth, wave-free surfaces with less sanding required.
-
Makes flat bottoms with clean transitions using the oval cutter, or sharp inside corners using the rectangular cutter.
Four Cutter Options for Every Material
The Simple Scraper VI accepts four interchangeable carbide cutters (two oval, two rectangular), each optimized for specific applications:
Oval Cutters
-
Standard Oval (wood): Ideal for curves and shaping on both inside and outside surfaces. Works for nearly any profile.
-
Negative Rake Oval (resin, hybrid, wood): Less aggressive cut, reduces chipping in hard materials like epoxy, minimizes tearout in softer woods, and leaves a smoother finish. Easier to control for many users.
Rectangular Cutters
-
Standard Rectangle (wood): Perfect for creating straight lines, beads, and sharp corners. Works well for bowls, vases, platters, pens, boxes, and spindle work.
-
Negative Rake Rectangle (resin, hybrid, wood): Designed for epoxy and harder woods. Produces cleaner cuts with reduced tearout and chipping, while being easier to handle.

How to Use
-
Position the tool rest as close as possible, aligning the cutter with the lathe centerline.
-
Place the tool flat on the rest, with the shaft parallel to the floor.
-
Securely hold the tool and slowly engage the cutter with the workpiece.
-
Designed for work between the headstock and bowl bottom.
-
Best results when used with the Flat Scraper Tool Rest for added support.
This scraper is a must-have for woodturners who want smooth finishes, reduced sanding time, and the versatility to handle both wood and resin projects with one tool.
